On Sunday, Russia’s Crimean Peninsula was subject to attempted drone attacks conducted by Kiev. According to the Russian Defense Ministry, the country’s air defenses neutralized 26 Ukrainian unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV) over the region.

Russian air defense prevented Ukraine’s attempt to attack Crimea using eight Storm Shadow cruise missiles, the Russian Defense Ministry said on Monday.

“On October 30, at about 13:00 Moscow time, Kiev’s attempt to attack Crimean Peninsula with eight Storm Shadow cruise missiles was prevented. As a result of repelling the attack by the air defense systems on duty, all missiles were shot down,” the ministry said.

Ukraine regularly attempts to carry out attacks against Russia’s border territories, as well as the western part of Russia, using UAVs and missiles. On October 29, at least 36 Ukrainian aircraft-type drones were shot down by Russia’s air defenses, the ministry noted.

As for Kiev’s other failed drone attacks on Russia, on October 26, about three Ukrainian UAVs, targeting the country’s Kursk nuclear power plant, were intercepted.

Russia has been conducting a special military operation in Ukraine since February 2022. Putin has stated that the operation is aimed at “protecting people who have been subjected to genocide by the Kiev regime for eight years.”
