Parking in the municipality of Luanda will begin to be paid, with parking meters coming into operation in the next 60 days.
The information was provided by Luanda’s municipal administrator, Milca Caquesse, who explained that there is a need to reorganize “parking in the city’s downtown, mainly”.
“In the next 60 days at most we will have the first parking meters to be installed in the municipality of Luanda”, she said, quoted by Rádio Nacional de Angola (RNA).
“Firstly because it is necessary to reorganize the parking lot, secondly also the employability of those young people who in an anarchic way, sometimes in a very sudden and aggressive way, have carried out this work, causing inconvenience to motorists and even pedestrians”, explained Milca Caquesse.
The official added that the measure also improves the image of the municipality.
“It also certainly improves the image of our municipality. We cannot continue to have places in the middle of the city to be guarded by stones and when people don’t pay or don’t have money to pay, they are harassed”, he stated, cited by RNA.
