Central Africa: Dantsoho becomes first Nigerian chairman of Ports Management Association

Abubakar Dantsoho, Managing Director of the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA), has been elected as the first Nigerian chairman of the Port Management Association of West and Central Africa (PMAWCA). His election was announced at the 44th annual council and 19th roundtable meeting in Conakry, Guinea.

In his acceptance speech, Dantsoho expressed pride in the achievement, noting it would boost the region’s maritime competitiveness. He reaffirmed Nigeria’s dedication to port modernization and non-oil export growth through key reforms.

Dantsoho also emphasized the government’s commitment to improving operational efficiency and infrastructure development, which will increase revenue generation and enhance the maritime sector.

He called for stronger collaboration among member states, stressing the importance of unity in achieving maritime sector goals for the West and Central African region.

Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Adegboyega Oyetola, congratulated Dantsoho, praising the recognition of Nigeria’s maritime reforms and expressing hope that Dantsoho’s leadership will further the country’s blue economy and create jobs.
