Governor Zulum to boost agriculture, trade in Lake Chad region

Governor Babagana Zulum made this known when he paid an assessment visit to some areas on the shores of the Lake Chad where he ferried over twenty kilometers on the Baga side of the Basin.

Agriculture contributes up to 65% of the state’s gross domestic product, In Borno state

A 2019 research conducted by the Food And Agriculture Organization 9, indicates that about 2.7million people in Borno, Yobe and Adamawa states are facing critical food challenges due to the insurgency.

As peace gradually returns, the state governor, Babagana Zulum paid an assessment visit to the shores of lake chad where most farming activities took place before the insurgency.

The Governor observed that agricultural activities are gradually returning to normal along the Lake Chad.

He is happy with this development.

The governor also promised to assist the military in clearing the waterways so boat traffic from Baga to Chad could resume in earnest.

With this good news, farmers along the lake chad basin are hopeful this move would bring back their source of livelihood and ensure food security.
