MINFIN to Auction 21 Properties Recovered From the Fight Against Corruption

The sale at public auction of these properties is due to the fact that they are unnecessary to the pursuit of public interest purposes and there is no special convenience of maintaining them in the State’s assets, according to Presidential Order No. 251/23, of 20 October, to which OPAÍS had access.

Such residential and commercial properties, which are part of the private domain of the State, are available and should not be sold for less than the official valuation.

To this end, the President of the Republic, João Lourenço, delegated to the Minister of Finance, Vera Daves de Sousa, the mission of carrying out all the acts necessary for the proper instruction, training and granting of the respective contracts for the sale of the respective real estate. “The Minister of Finance must also approve the parts of the procedure, appoint the technical team responsible for conducting the procedures and perform all the acts necessary for their processing,” the document reads.

The province of Luanda stands out among the others as being the one with the most properties available at auction (with eight), followed by Benguela (with six), in third place is Cuanza Sul (with four) and, finally, Huambo (with three). However, the most expensive property, according to data available on the website of the National Asset Recovery Service (SENRA), is a 4-bedroom villa, with three floors, built in Baía Azul, in Benguela, which is valued at USD 1 million and 392 thousand.

The reporting team of the newspaper OPAÍS was also able to verify, on the aforementioned portal of this body assigned to the Attorney General’s Office (PGR), that the second most expensive property that will be sold in this lot, is valued at USD 931 million. It is a luxury single-family villa, 3/4 storey, T3, located in the Bou- levard condominium, nº C10, in Talatona. In the Laguna condominium, located in the same municipality in the province of Luanda; there are also three 2 bedroom apartments, valued at more than USD 130 thousand each, which are part of this lot.

The holding of this auction will also be an opportunity for people who dream of having a luxurious beach house on Mussulo Island. The aforementioned presidential order indicates two single-family residences that are expected to go up for sale at this stage, valued at USD 390,000 and USD 661,000, respectively. It should be noted that this last property, located in the area of the Zanga Complex, which includes a residence with annex, jango and garage, is the third most expensive on the list.

The fourth is a 4-bedroom two-storey villa built on Rua da Ilha da Madeira, in Benguela province, which is budgeted at USD 487,000. In this province, there are two offices valued at USD 441,000 each. In the province of Cuanza Sul, of the four properties that will go to auction, the highest value is (between 270 and 300 thousand dollars) is related to a 3 bedroom villa, located in Waku Kungo, municipality of Cela, in Cuanza Sul, while the three properties located in Huambo are commercial establishments, two of which are located on Imaculado da Conceição street (former TPA-Huambo building), are valued at USD 450,000 and USD 351,000, respectively.
