Angolan president João Lourenço has authorized the public sale of 21 state-owned residential and commercial properties, namely seven flats, six villas, two offices and six commercial establishments located in Luanda, Benguela, Cuanza Sul and Huambo.

According to the state’s website, the measure is due to the fact that the properties are unnecessary for public interest purposes and that there is no use in keeping them as state assets.

It states that the sale must be made through public auction and for less than the official valuation of the property.

President João Lourenço has given powers to the Finance minister, Vera Daves de Sousa, to appoint an entity to represent the Angolan state to carry out all the acts necessary for the proper instruction, formation and signing of the property sale contracts.

The minister must also approve the procedural documents, appoint the technical team responsible for conducting the process and carry out all the necessary acts.
