GGPEN Presents the Benefits of the Angosat-2 to the Angolan Armed Forces

 

On the 21st of March, the National Space Programme Management Office (GGPEN) participated in a meeting hosted by the Angolan armed forces (FAA) to discuss the military applications of Angosat-2 and give updates on its operational status. The 17th Methodological Meeting of Chiefs of Telecommunication Directorates of the Angolan Armed Forces (FAA) is an annual gathering of telecommunications professionals within the Angolan military.

In addition, the event was attended by generals, admirals, commissioners and senior officers at the highest level of the Defense and armed forces to assess Angola’s position in the telecommunications satellite area and the industry’s main trends. Furthermore, GGPEN’s specialist support to the Director General engineer, Osvaldo Porto, represented the agency at the event to give a full account of the satellite.

The Angosat-2 was launched on the 12th of October, 2022. It has a lifespan of 15 years and is equipped with 16 C-band and 6 ku-band transponders enabling it to provide various telecommunications services such as network infrastructure, information security, and emerging technologies.
